Having problems with RSS feeds

I read the post on rss feeds. I wasnt sure how to add them now i know i need to use the headlines ( thanks to herko) module but it seems as if the rss links dont work, and only link back to my site. I have tried using wired.com's and another sources is there something im doing wrong? maybe im using the wrong encoding? Im not sure but i would appreciate any help.

I'm not sure the RSS feeds (headlines) work 100%.

I've added several to my site and only a handful of them work. I've tried variuos sources for the feeds but it's very tempermental it seems.
