Updated an .html file and now site is blank (no errors)

I even turned oh PHP Errors. I get an error on the admin screen about a variable but not on the NEWS page.

I updated a .html file in my theme directory and it didn't reflect on the site, so I enabled:

Update module template .html files from themes/your theme/templates directory?
-------------

Now, my site is blank! I turned this option off again, tried different themes (even default) but all are blank. Changed the default page to "None". No good.

PS : the admin page error is:
Notice: Undefined variable: xoops_admin_menu_dv in /home/ap/public_html/guildsite/include/cp_functions.php on line 141

I doubt that has anything to do with it.

You need to turn the option on and then change to default theme.

Something in the theme file broke the whole thing. Did you turn the smarty debug on?

Tried all Error options. PHP Debug & Default theme.

Still blank.

Surely the html file wouldn't break the whole site?

Xoops relies on smarty. "blank pages" are usually the result of non-rendered smarty variables.

which theme did you switch to?

I have installed and tested:

default
4thefort (the modded one for our site)
phpkaox
x2t

I get a blank site on all of them. The only code I get is:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
<HTML><HEAD>
<META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"></HEAD>
<BODY></BODY></HTML>


I just changed two lines in the theme.html file in the 4thefort theme.
They were just cosmetic changes. Removing one
<font color="wheat"> </font>

and placing it elsewhere.
I might still have the original theme at home, so might try uploading theme.html
but why would modifying one theme make the rest blank? A mystery

I changed the line that contains ** JOIN **
and the line that contains PUBLIC POSTS

so you edited a theme, (made changes) and uploaded, then updated from general settings?

i noticed you have added: <script language='javascript' src='http://yoursite/js.cgi?pa&r=2668'></script>

what is this for?
