Hello Im new to Xoops, and I was wondering how i can get acctual news posts to show on the front page? Like the front page of this site. Thanks.

login and goto administration menu -> system admin -> preferences -> general settings [edit] -> the 5th item down is Module for your start page, from dropdown select news, then scroll down until you see "Update module template .html files from themes/your theme/templates directory?" set to yes; go to bottom of screen select go to effect changes. thats it!
