Hello,

I have installed XOOPS 2.0.6 (I think...). I have had a look at the tutorial

http://dcdezines.ca/modules/articles/article.php?articleID=7

but when I press 'go' to set my preferences it takes me to a blank page ../xoops/modules/system/admin.php?fct=preferences

I hunted around for similar issues in the forums and it was suggested turning on debug mode but as it's in 'general settings' I can't set it anyway. What table is debug mode in and has anyone else come across this issue?

thanks, Andy

hey mudpit,

this tutorial is for cloning templates only. it does not have anything to do with initial install of Xoops. please explain what are you trying to do and maybe i can remove some confusion.

hehe...no confusion. I have been able to install it ok (it seems...?). I then thought I'd try out a new template, found the aforementioned tutorial which took me to Preferences > General Settings where I discovered this problem. BTW I cannot find a debug_mode or mod or whatever field in any table. I have 31 tables - is that correct?

hey mudpit,

the debug mode can be found under system admin -> preferences -> general settings [edit] now scroll down until you see: Debug mode

also, visit jackj's guide to Xoops:http://www.macambridge.com/dummies/

Hey tjnemez,

Thanks but I know that already. Read my first post. Pressing 'go' to submit my general settings updates takes me to a blank page so I can't set debug mode at all. I have to do it manually in the db/table btu I can't find it there either.....I want to set debug mode to on to see if/what error comes up.

Any assistance appreciated.

ok, I found the debug_mode row and set it to '1'. When I try to update my General Settings I get the following error:

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /'myPath'/xoops/modules/system/admin/preferences/main.php on line 348

Anyone seen this before?

2 questions

1. Have you tried re-uploading all of the pages over top of each other (aside from the mainfile.php page)
2. How did you install? Did you use Fantastico or one of those type of installers?

I haven't tried re-uploading all of the files (will that achieve anything?).

What is Fantastico - maybe I should give that a try.

Here is my phpinfo
