newBB categories & category reorder list not in sync

Running 2.0.6 with standard newBB and I'm having a problem with newBB ordering my categories correctly.

First off, the list of categories listed in my "reorder categories" admin panel does not match the order of the categories as they are listed when a user views the newBB categories. I have 14 categories. It started doing this about 4-5 categores ago and I just noticed it.

Secondly, clicking on "Move Up" or "Move Down" in the reorder categories admin panel doesn't always work or with the expected results. Sometimes clicking on one of the up or down buttons, doesn't do anything at all, or it moves it 3 or 4 places instead on once.

Can anyone please help?

I ended up going into the database and manually changing the "cat_order" values. I also changed the cat_order variable type to int(10) like Goyko had suggested.

It's fixed if for now, but just for sh!$s and giggles I tried to "move" up a category via the admin panel and it still messed things up. I had to go back into the db and fix it manually.

Was it safe doin' what I did? Was it okay?

Thanks for the heads up about changing the cat_order to int(10). I had the exact same problem as you. And yes, it is totally safe, and recommended (imho), to change the varchar(10) to int(10).
