Is it possible to customize the Main Menu, adding other items to it etc. Is there a module for or is it possible to build such module? Or do I have to look in the source of one of the .php documents inside of xoops, and where in witch?

Try doing a search for multimenu. This will do simar to what you are looking for.

I've found the module and install it, but is it also possible to create a sub menu?

No this is not possible at the moment. Hopefully someone creates such a menu module as this would be very usefull for me too
