Why there is no demo version of XOOPS on https://xoops.org?
I think the best way user to choose CMS is to try it.

You can have a look at http://www.opensourcecms.com. There you can test Xoops2 and a few other systems.

And for testing purposes you can also install it locally

I think, you can improve XOOPS site usability and popularity by adding XOOPS Demo section in main menu.
