Some of my site's users get the server error "HTTP_REQUEST_TOO_LONG" when browsing the forum. The weird thing is this only happens in Opera, but sometimes, not every time...
One of my site's members says it could be because of the newbb cookie. Namely "newbb_topic_lastread" is probably the last topic, but urlencoded, which results in a package of more than 4000 bytes...
Any ideas?

-- edit --

Okay, some people seem to have the problem in IE6.0 too...

Sorry, I'm trying to find the thread discussing this. I've just upgraded (finally) from 2.0.3 to 2.0.5; though I had to selectively keep/throw lines in my modified newbb. I'm getting the following error:

I know I saw this discussed elsewhere, but I couldn't find it.

Thanks in advance,
Keith

Mississauga eh? I'm in Streetsvile. I don't have a good answer for you but both of you have modified Forums in common? Check the changelogs/diffs since there are security fixes in 2.0.5.1 that might be bumping into your mods. I started with 2.0.5 so I haven't seen this error yet. I was however thinking about a better Forums since it will be the heart of the board and the users are spoiled at the board they are on now.

i haven't really modified newbb... only upgraded from 204 to 205...
but it's not an urgent problem since our XOOPS site is only temporarily, until our own system is finished, but it still would be nice if this could be fixed :)

Hmmm... hopefully we can get some support from someone who knows php / newbb.... I was kinda just hoping the problem was just a single-instance anomoly, but I think you're right, it is a bug that:

a) has already been fixed, we just havn't found the fix yet, or
b) needs to be fixed.

So, hopefully smart people can help!

Thanks,
Keith

Some of my users started complaining about this problem recently as well. I was surprised not to find anything here mentioned about it since 2003...

Anyone know what the problem is?
I'm using 2.0.93 ...

The workaround is to delete the newbb cookie(s).
