I,ve been installing XOOPS since the 1.x.x days. This is my first install of 2.0.5. I found that I did not have to chmod
any of the directorys with 2.0.5 like I did with 2.0.2 or 2.0.3. The website is up and running seems fine except the error below. I have chmod the mainfile several times to 444
and I still get the error below.

WARNING: File /home/xxxxxxxx/public_html/mainfile.php is writeable by the server. Please change the permission of this file for security reasons. In Unix (444), in Win32 (read-only)

This is how my server is configed...

try to chmod it to 644 or 755 once..
maybe it's also a cache update delay by your server...

Hi ...

I have the same problem with my installation like PureWolf. Tried several times to change chmod ... with lots of different FTP clients ... nothing worked.

? You Did It With Filemanager thats come with CPanel?

Well, Same as you. I never can't do any change to the file permision... Until when I Used the Cute FTP program...

I Think it works with any ftp Program.

I noticed the same thing here on 2 2.0.5 installs. the first site I copied it down to my HD, deleted the server copy & re-uploaded to server and that did the trick. The 2nd one it won't do anything. The first one was on a server with Plesk and under Plesk it shows that mainfile is owned by root (the host) so I think that is why it won't let me chmod. Still stuck with this problem in Cpanel for the 2nd one and Cpanel doesnt tell me who owns the file.

btw I used Cpanel, & 2 different FTP progs
