I frequently spend an hour or so writing responses on my own site. I like to be able to write in between other tasks and give myself some time to (re)consider what I've written. As a result, I've gotten into the habit of highlighting and copying my text before submitting. If I've timed out, I re-login and paste my text. Problem solved.

I've found that many very busy sites have short timeouts regardless of the forum or CMS software they use. This habit has helped me keep my sanity....

I also like to write over a long period of time to make sure I say what I really want to say. I actually do copy things to other apps a lot myself. More so because of my own habit of closing windows accidentally and not because I expect the site to time out.

I've been in the business long enough to know that even with commercial software, you often have annoyances like that. A lot of my favorite software has annoyances like that which bother the heck out of some people. However, you have to weigh the good with the bad. So far, what I have seen I, but running into things like that at the start can be, well, annoying.
