Re: Ahh! My site got OBLITERATED!! Need fix ASAP!!

The Changes: I have a blueprint style border around sections of the site (which has prooven to be the biggest pain thanks to IE). For some reason, that border suddenly stopped working and caused the news on the front page to not display if I used it. So I reverted back to the old version.

While we wait for the company producing our games' logo to come up with it, we put the page on hold, however now the project lead wanted to fix the front page so it had that paper and paper border there again (before it showed nothing and the black text on the wood is very hard to read!)

So, I was trying to make the changes... and found I could literlaly upload a completly blank version of theme_blockcenter_c.html, and the front page would still display just fine - I had to delete the file to make it not display. Heck, I could delete it, then re-upload a blank one, and it would still display just fine.

So - I read the FAQ's, see things cache, and nuke the template_c directory... and that brings us to where we are now.

Ok, when you say nuke the template_c directory, do you mean delete the contents, or the folder?

Go into system admin - preferences - general settings - the 9th entry down to update themes and templates set it to yes.

Sorry, I deleted the contents of the directory - NOT the directory.

It is already set to Yes.

Look in the cache folder, do you see adminmenu.php?

Sorry for all the questions but need to know why you don't get a first time log on error. I do not see it.

Re: Ahh! My site got OBLITERATED!! Need fix ASAP!!

No need to apologise - I appriciate all the help! I've had nothing but problems with XOOPS since day one, only I'm too stubborn to give up on something! hehe So I really appriciate anyone who is willing the take the time to assist me.

Anyway, the cache directory is completly empty. To confirm, I have not touched this directory at all - this is probably the first time I have even FTP'd into it.

Yeah, that is what I am seeing. I am assuming that you are the full webmaster, which is when that file is supposed to be created. Adminmenu.php that is.

Sorry to ask again but you need to triple check that folder for chmod 777. Very important for XOOPS to write to that folder.

You say you get an error at log on. What file is the error?

Just triple checked.. that directory is definitly 777, without a doubt, for sure, certainly, 777. =)

And sorry, it isn't an error at logon, it's an error whenever I make any changes in the admin screen. Lemme just copy/paste the whole thing... I'm noticing that now that I have turned on verbose PHP errors it is much longer:

Re: Ahh! My site got OBLITERATED!! Need fix ASAP!!

Well, I am sorry I have run out of ideas. Maybe someone else has some other ideas.

PS. When this issue gets resolved please add it to the faq, so others will have an easier time finding the solution.

Good luck.

Re: Ahh! My site got OBLITERATED!! Need fix ASAP!!

Ugh... well, thanks for all your help, though! =)

I'm just gonna make a backup of the site, wipe the entire thing, then upload an older version of it that I have (that older version I am POSITIVE was working when I backed it up). If that dosen't work... then I think I have some server issues, or might finally have to admit defeat and find another portal system, since like I said - nothing but endless problems with XOOPS since day one. =(

Thanks again... I really do appriciate your time!!
