Newbb2 install problem

I'm try to install Newbb2 after doing the updated when I go into the forums I get garbage showing.

Ie:
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also shows a couple of red X's where an icon should be.


I'v tried the upgrade several time and always get the same result.


Running the upgrade script I get error on the first page saying that it can't create the tables. The rest of the script runs OK.


Any help much appreciated.

You need to update your templates in System Admin - templates.

In your cloned template set for newbb.

Delete and regenerate them.

In the upgrade script, have you run the script more than once. If the tables are already in the database you will receive an error.

Sorry I'm new to Xoops. I can find System Admin - Templates
but I don't know what to do in there.

I seem to have only the XOOPS default template set.

Go to the forum admin section. Check all the permissions in the categories, and forums. You will need to set them all.

See The Newbb Flash Tutorial section on Categories and forums if you need help with the settings.

No matter what I do I cannot get it to work.

I even tried:
1. Uninstalling the old forums.
2. Deleting the Newbb folder
3. Replacing the Newbb folder from the zip file.
4. Reinstalling the forums. Shows version 2.0
5. Setting permissions.

But when I go into the forums I still get the
garbage.


There is a line in the readme_first.txt that say.

"Update the newbb templates". But I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do here.

To update your Newbb templates, go to System Admin - templates, Locate the newbb templates in your cloned template set, delete all of the existing templates then regenerate the templates.

One more question, make sure that you update the newbb module in System Admin - Modules. Also for rebuilding your default template set update the System module, same place.

What you have is fairly common with an upgrade, but there are several things that can cause it. But I still think in your case it is a template problem of some kind.

Sorry that I appear stupid but I still don't understand this bit (I've only been using XOOPS a couple of weeks ). In the templates I only have a default template with the option to "download " or "clone". Does this mean I should clone the default template? And how do I regenerate?
