Is it possible to have a podcast feed with XOOPS 2.0? I've heard that perhaps you can run Wordpress as a module and do it that way?

Any help with XOOPS and podcasting would be greatly appreciated!

Can you give more specifics as to what it takes to do a podcast?

I think you need an RSS feed with enclosures. Other than that, I'm not sure what else you would need.

Could you check it out? Might not be all that different from making a news RSS feed.

I'm looking into it - the main thing is to have the RSS feed support atttachments. Does XOOPS do this?

Here's the best thing I was able to find about what the RSS feed needs to do:

Is that what you need? If XOOPS will support this, that would be utterly fantastic. I'd hate to engage another piece of blogging software on top of it just to podcast.

Thanks!

So it seems to be a normal RSS Feed, but with
<enclosure url=" http://www.mywebsite.com/myaudio.mp3" length="4834743" type="audio/mpeg" />

in it. Should be doable.
Just a matter of having a module to keep track of the mp3, its length and its type.

Perhaps a slight modification of one of the downloads modules to support this feature for audio files hosted locally? Definitely doable, I should say.

That's what I gather as well, although I'm kind of new to podcasting, too.

I'm putting together a project now -- I wonder how I can set this up in the near term while a coder takes up the challenge.

I think what I might recommend to the XOOPS operators that I'm working with, is to install, at least for now, a WordPress installation for the podcasting posts and feeds.

Did I hear that XOOPS can have a window featuring a Wordpress post or article? That would be ideal.

ipodder.org
is a good source. I was looking for the same RSS feed encoding to use on my site.
I can't seem to find one...but at the bottom of XOOPS web site I see a rss feed. SO it should be available to rest of us.
thanks.
