Install problem with xoops 2.5.1

I'm trying to do a fresh install using XAMPP as a local host

the configuration is

Apache/2.2.17 (Win32) mod_ssl/2.2.17 OpenSSL/0.9.8o PHP/5.3.4 mod_perl/2.0.4 Perl/v5.10.1
MySQL client version: mysqlnd 5.0.7-dev - 091210 - $Revision: 304625 $
PHP extension: mysql

going to phpmyadmin shows a xoops database has been created but it is populated with only 32 tables

I tried to import the sql data tables but it doesn't add the extension x4d3_

Does anyone have any ideas?

I tried installing 2.4.4

I got the same "Strict Standards:" errors and it wouldn't create the tables.

Maybe someone can suggest a version that WORKS with my localhost config?

Did you try XOOPS 2.5.1a?

BTW - you don't need the "strict errors" mode being set on. That's more for developers.

Only? 32 tables is the correct number, if you don't install any modules.

I just test-installed XOOPS 2.5.1a three times on my WAMP:

And didn't have any problems.

You might try to compare the installation screens from the "Installation Guide" to yours, as you go through your installation, and make sure that they are similar and nothing is missing there (like some PHP extension).

I think, you did set up your WAMP not correctly. For example, having "strict error" mode set to "on" is not the standard way when WAMP is installed, indicating that you made some changes to the configuration, which could impact your installation.

It's 2.5.1a downloaded from sourceforge yesterday

the xampp install is a fresh install. I didn't make any changes to it. how do I turn off this "strict" errors?

and the install screens matched perfectly.

I was playing with it last night and when i got the login screen instead of screen 12 I hit the back button. It took me to screen 12, the initial setup. but every time i completed the info and hit the next button it went to "taking you back to where you were" I couldn't get past screen 12

and it's XAMPP I'm using, now WAMP. I want to tie another script into xoops. I was hoping with iframes and the other software won't work with WAMP because of the way the Apache handler works. It will only work with XAMPP

I backed up the other software from xampp, installed it on wamp, did some playing with the config files and got it to work.

so i guess i'll try installing 2.5.1a on wamp

Good to hear that it works on WAMP.

It would be interesting to know why there were problems with XAMPP. Any one else having issues with XAMPP?

the other program works, don't know if xoops 2.5.1a works yet

as far as I'm concerned, 2.5.1a is TERRIBLE!!!!

I made the themes selectible in the preferences, but there is no block created to show in the menues
