Today we (Designburo.nl) release a beta version of the CuErPa module for XOOPS. This module allows the creation of Custom Error Pages for within your website.

This can be very handy in case e.g. a visitor enters your website using an url that does not exist. Normally they would get a File not found error, now they will be forwarded to an Url you can set using CuErPa (CustomErrorPages).

Please give it a try and lets us know if you find anything we need to address before we take it our of Beta. Version 1 will also include a set of error pages and a quick setup button.

The file can be downloaded here.

Hmm..
Wondering why a module was neccesary for something that can be done in a few lines in the htaccess. This must be for people whose hosts do not provide .htaccess capability to their users?

One of the goals of a cms is making life easier for not technically skilled webmasters xoobaru

Guess how many admins know how to create custom error pages
Not many.. CuErPa is actually part of a larger module I made to create and manage the .htaccess files. E.g. rewrite rules etc.. Simply because so many people had problems getting it right.
In my opinion, it would be a great asset if Xoops had it in its preferences, saving a lot of people the trouble of getting rewrite rules etc.. setup. Such an easy installer we have, and the admin section is also pretty easy to work with. But for errorpages or rewrite rules admins need to know more than just clicking a few buttons and entering their hosts information.
Basically in short.. I agree with Flipse ;)

OK... I see the logic in that (not because I just found out I am one of the rare superior webmasters ). One point worth considering is for the module to account for the possibility that a custom .htaccess already exists, and if so make its changes, and save without losing original .htaccess contents. For instance, mod rewrite engine may already be on, although in my experience it doesn't hurt if it is redundant.

The module does take it into account. Well..CuErPa only deals with errordocuments, but it simply reads and parses a .htaccess file and only changes what needs to be changed, the rest stays intact. If there's no .htaccess file it will be created, and just to be safe it makes a backup of the original .htaccess file everytime changes are made.

Edit:

only for cosmetic correction
there is text in code

please make in language admin.php
define('_CUERPA_FORM_FILL_DEFAULT'"Fill form with default pages");
define('_CUERPA_FORM_FILL'"Fill fields");

and replace in main.php line 136 till 138 by
echo '<tr><td style="border-top:1px dotted #999;border-bottom:1px dotted #999;"><label for="fill">'._CUERPA_FORM_FILL_DEFAULT.'</label></td>';
    echo
'<td align="left" style="border-top:1px dotted #999;border-bottom:1px dotted #999;"><button type="button" name="fill" id="fill">'._CUERPA_FORM_FILL.'</button></td></tr>';
    echo
'<tr><td colspan="2" align="center"><BR><BR><a href="'.XOOPS_URL '/modules/' $xoopsModule->getVar("dirname") . '/admin/main.php"><button type="button" name="cancel" id="cancel">'._CANCEL.'</button></a>&nbsp;&nbsp;<input type="submit" id="submit" name="submit" value="'._CUERPA_FORM_SUBMIT.'"></td></tr></table>';

there are some defines like "_AM_QRCODE_...", maybe should be replaced by "_AM_CUERPA_..."
