XOOPS and PHP8

Most of you probably have heard already that on November 26th, 2020, PHP team will release a highly anticipated new version: PHP 8
There are already tons of articles describing the new features of this release, as well as the major speed improvements.
Of course, as usual, XOOPS Core Team under the leadership of Richard Griffith (aka Geekwright), is working hard on updating the Core to make sure that it works on PHP 8, once it is released.
Over the weekend Richard made first official changes to the XOOPS Core to make it compatible with PHP 8, so you can now install it on PHP 8 and test it!
The XOOPS PHP 8 JOURNEY starts TODAY!

Over the next weeks and months, till November 26th, we'll be testing and improving our key modules to make sure that they are working with PHP 8 and MySQL 8
Once testing of individual module is successfully completed, we'll be adding a little image to its repository on Github Xoops Modules location to indicate that the module is certified for PHP 8 and MySQL 8:
Please help us with testing and making the modules ready for PHP 8!
We also need help with translations of the modules! Thanks to the great new module wgTransifex, developed by Goffy, it is now very easy to translate the modules!
