Pageflip 1.05 - is a Book Embeddment system for XOOPS 2.4 and XOOPS 2.5 it uses Javascipt as well as Flash for running a book in either blocks, default content or all of the above. You can have Image Based Book and with a wide variety of options can display a good marquee on your site. Allowing for both image and PDF Output you can display on your site a marquee which fades or slides according to the options you select.
This module also supports XLanguage and has multilingual support so you can have different components of a marquee on multiple language settings using the XOOPS API Language options.
There is a mirade of options with this application. You can specify URLS to link people to, weights, language type, image or text as well as speed, timeout and animation type all at the click of a button.

Xoops Global RSS Hack/Solution
This is a modified version of backend.php, that offers one way of gathering rss feeds from every module that you'd like and displaying them.
All you have to do is replace the backend.php file with the one in the download package.
Add a file in the modules folder /incude/rss.inc.php
The function name must be modulename_rss()
There is an example of the calendar module and smartsection in the package as well.
It actually works like the search functionality works in xoops but you dont have to change or declare anything on xoops_version.php of each file.
I did that cause i didnt want to change any module core files for it to work.
I have also updated the system_rss.html template (you dont need to (for it to work) but it is included in case you prefer the new one)
If anyone else implements this please share the files for other modules too and send them to me so i can include them in the package.

XOOPS holds its place in "CMS Report's Top 30 Web Applications"
CMS Report, one of the leading Web publications focused on CMS issues, publishes since 2006 a list of "Top Web Applications!
The list is being updated to make sure that it stays relevant, and the new update was just published few days ago.
XOOPS was there from the very beginning, since June 2006, and we're very happy to see that XOOPS is still remains strong after all these years!
From the original 2006 list, there are only 6 still remaining:

Twitter Bomb allows you to place segments of a tweet into a database, and aggregate via services like twitterfeed.com tweets based on a sentence formed from a matrix of basis of sentences. You will be able to run a campaign on twitter and have your sentences randomly made from the segments of sentences known in this applicaion as the 'base' of the phrase.
Since this version there is also now two type of campaigns you can run, either a phrase bombing, or a scheduled tweet. You can import a list from a text file or log file, where each line is periodically tweeted on twitter as per your schedule. Including tabled filters for easy use and maintence as well as harvesting plugins that allow you to develop with TwitterBomb to retireve information from other sources like API, databases, text files, SOAP ports or many other places like modules on your website.
TwitterBomb 1.20 is the new Stable Release, we don't expect to be doing anymore releases of this application which is XOOPS 2.4 compatible as it is full of features and has all the nessecary details for expansion with plugins but after this we will be migrating to the module class wrapper making it only 2.5 compatible.
There is a mirade of options with this application. You can specify URLS to pass someone too included in the URL can be the phrase in a URL Encoded string so you can direct people to search engines and topics to do with the sentence.

XOOPS Council Changes
Following DJ's (aka phppp) and Kris' resignation from XOOPS Council, the remaining Council members have agreed that the available seats should be reassigned as soon as possible.
As you may know, the Council is responsible for overall management and direction of the XOOPS Project. The XOOPS activities are divided in several teams, and the Team Coordinators/Leaders are then members of the XOOPS Council.
Due to Core and Design Teams fragmentation and lack of coordination, the XOOPS Council decided to designate temporary leaders who will be assuming the responsibility of recruiting and reuniting members for these teams. It is the XOOPS Council's wish to have each team electing their own leaders in January of 2012.
As of now, after being invited and kindly agreeing to assist us, the new Council members are:
- Core Team: Nicolas Andricq (ForMuss) from France - 2010 Innovator of the Year, who was the Development Leader of XOOPS 2.5.0, with its many innovative features
- Design Team: Eduardo (Bitc3r0) from Mexico - a winner of several XOOPS Innovation Awards for his work such as EXM Admin theme, or RM Common Utilities, and several modules and themes, among them the current theme on http://www.xoops.org
The community also proposed to have a Council member who is representing the users. We liked the idea and therefore we've invited Mark Boyden (mboyden) from USA, who created many XOOPS sites, both pro bono and for profit.
Mark has been always very supportive of XOOPS (see his blog) and since his livelihood depends in part on XOOPS success, we thought that he'll be a very good addition to the Council.
Currently remaining on the Council are:
- Modules: Ricardo Costa (Trabis)
- International: Rune Hauge (Runeher)
- Marketing: Michael Beck (Mamba)
Please become active and join one or more of these teams. The XOOPS Council is looking forward to reactivating and reengaging of all these teams, hoping they can express and fulfill what they wish for and from XOOPS.
