Following D.J's (phppp) decision to blank module development, a new site, xoopsmoddev.org has been born. All module developers are invited to join the site.

What's it about?

Simple really: Its a home for module developers to manage their work. It's new, the PM side of things is still being developed but in the meantime, mod devs are invited to join and give their views on how the site and organisation should be run.

XoopsModDev.org is a 'not for profit' community initiative

This is fantastic news, in that there is a module development team, just a shame about how all this came about really.

I look forward to this being a big thing for XOOPS

Why isnt their any new mod creations? seems support and mod development has deceased.

Is this an official XOOPS module development site.

I would also like to emphasize that modules developed should be compatible with older versions of php as their are many hosting providers that will not upgrade right away their versions to php v5, even mysql versions as yet so that would keep back some people who are using those hosting providers.

Also modules including the developers name/links etc. is somewhat disturbing when it show under all public pages displayed. Personally I try to use modules that don't have that sort of reference when building a site. I guess others who use the modules in production/business sites would think that same way. I just think sites would just look professionally, especially for large corporation public sites, they do worry about their branding. After all developers have their own prerogative why they do so, but modules would be more popular in the business sector if suck ref would be removed.

Also I am wondering if the re-architecturing of the XOOPS CMS framework would affect the compatibility of modules etc. or would these modules just work fine.

my two cents here.
