My fraternity is currently looking for a CMS to use as it's new site design. We would have a national site and a site for rush information. We would like to have members have the ability to share logins on the two sites as well as share some of the same content (i.e. forums, commerce, etc.) Is this possible with XOOPS and how, or is there another CMS that would allow us to do something like this?

Thanks

Why two sites?

A single logon with two different classes of users (members and rush candidates) would give you the ability to share logons and content across the two user populations. Members would see member content plus shared content and candidates would see candidate content plus shared content.

There are a lot of possibilities here. What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

We already have the two sites established and are in our materials that we give out to prospective members. Actually...what we are trying to do is to maintain the two sites, but have them share some related content.
Login isn't that important, except for the forum.

By snooping around a bit, I found the mulitsites hack. Would this be something that could work?

I am also having a similar dilema, I have 2 domains with different content, I wish to share the user base (one site is sales orientated the other is support) That way a user can go to one site, log in as per the other site and get the info they paid for (ie the support or whatever is being sold as a subscription). It would be bewst (in my view) just to sync or point to the user table of each site from the other?

Any ideas/solutions greeted with warm welcomes...

Just thinking out loud... I am not too sure how XOOPS accesses the DB but is it possible to open both and only look at user details for login and password retrieval etc?

Otherwise it probably wont work logistically in my mind anywway..
