WF-Downloads 2.05a...

All the categories have been input, and we have quite a sub-nesting of sub-categories. The top level and bottom level categories are fine, but the mid level one's are not.

If I click on a download specifically it shows me the full 'path' in terms of the category layout. However, if I navigate to it via the navigation menu the second level of subcategories are showing as (0) .

So for example :

(0)
Software Manufacturer

(0)
Another company

(0)
Some other stuff

etc etc

as opposed to

Internet Software
Software Manufacturer

Disk Drive Utilities
Another company

Keyword Search Utilities
Some Other Stuff

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

Perhaps it would help iuf I ellaborate...

For example, our category structure works by the type of software, followed by the manufacturer, followed by the software application itself, like this :

-> Compression Software
--> Winzip Computing
---> Winzip

-> Disk
--> Norton
---> Disk Edit

But for some reason, a few weeks ago we noticed it was suddenly being shown like this (I must stress that in the module admin all the categories are showing correctly) :

-> Compression Software
--> 0
---> Winzip

-> Disk
--> 0
---> Disk Edit

Does that help?

Thanks

At least I am not alone then. Maybe there is a sensible solution to it if it isn't just my problem.

I have PM'd Bender who is part of WF-Projects and asked if he (or any member of WF-Projects) could look at this post.

SInce the data does show in the admin, it is there. Are the tables corrputed perhaps? Can you 'reload' the module (system admin -> modules -> update) and see if that fixes it?

Ok Ted, sounds like you actually updated from one version and didn't run the update script.

Look at the sql file and the database to see if there are any differences between them.

Interesting responses.

The fault was noticed soon after a major server crash and a subsequent restoration of our site and hence the MySQL database. Everything else seems to be fine except for that. I wonder if the tables got whacked during the restore?

I have not updated the module since upgrading to the latest version about a year ago (2.05a) and it was after doing that upgrade that we put all the categories and values in.

Herko : What do you mean when you refer to the 'corrupted tables'? Do you mean the tables in the MySQL database or the tables in the html templates? I will try your suggestion and hope for the best.

Thanks

Ted

the database tables. Apparently the information is not taken from the database correctly, and put into the correct variables. This makes them show as (0). Try using phpMyAdmin and check for corrupt tables and data.
