There seems to be a very strange problem with blank screens or 500 errors

The website works fine for me with Chrome, but not with IE9 or Firefox4. Yesterday 6 people in different cities cited the same or similar problems. Either a blank screen or a 500 error. 1 person reported the problem, and i asked the other 5 to try the website.

I talked to my host and they suggested removing wfchannel. I uninstalled wfchannel and wfresources and replaced them with the Dummy module from xuups. The only thing wfchannel was doing was the info on my home page

when i talked to my host i also reported where the users were from, their ip address and what browsers they were using. They were using firefox, chrome, opera and IE

my installed modules

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

I am getting an empty page too:

- Chrome Canary
- IE9
- Firefox 5.0 beta 2

I assume, for you the Website is working fine.

You need to systematically analyze the common symptoms of the people who don't see your Website:

- are they coming from the same area of the world?
- are they using the same browser

On the other hand, who are the people who are actually getting to see your Website?

If you don't find any commonalities, try to find somebody who is getting blank, and start deactivating modules, one by one, and let the person tell you if they can see the Website. This way you'll find the module that is causing it.

If this is happening recently, try to go back and see:

- did the host changed anything to your setup (e.g. PHP)
- did you add any new modules, and made any changes?

Most of the time the reason for blank pages is because you or the host changed something and introduced incompatibility.

There are people getting on the site. Someone registered about 2 hours ago.

Everyone tried several different browsers (IE8, IE9, Opera, FF, Chrome). The host didn't change anything and they say it's a CMS problem.

Mamba, I assume you're in the US. I had someone in Moscow tried and he got a blank screen. I'm in Ukraine and I'm not having a problem with Chrome, but a blank screen with FF and 500 error with IE9

Other people in the same city as me are getting blank screens

I'm not sure how long this has been going on because it was never reported until now. The last module I added was TDMstats about 2 months ago. I tried deactivating it today but it didn't help

got an answer from my host. this is what they said

It looks like we have fixed the issue
The problem was with the lack of php memory allocated as web site required more but this fact was hidden by cms and it took a couple of hrs to find that in the areas of cms

So I guess it wasn't xoops fault after all
