Trouble installing 2.5

I am currently going through the installation for 2.5 and i get to the database configuration and it comes up with a red box saying 'could not create database, contact the server administrator for details'.
Can't get past this page, what do i do?

Probably your server does not grant the right to create databases by PHP.
Use an existant database or create one by hand.

We created a database by hand but the error still comes up!?!?

Then something is wrong with your database connection. Maybe the database name?

If you've created the database manually, and you can access it, then XOOPS should install without problems.

Did you install anything else over there in the past? Did it work?
