Hello,

I built my website based on xoops' database, in the upload, I'm wondering how avatarfile names are composed ? using what formula ?

logicbloke, Welcome to the XOOPS Forum!

The names are formed by a prefix of cavt and savt, for user avatar or system avatar, and then follows a unique 13 character id.

Yes, I have already noticed that, Thanks anyway, I didn't now about savt =)

Now what I'm looking for is this unique id ? is it completely random ? I'll maybe do a md5 hash there ... of (uid+name)

It is a random number generated by the uniqid function of PHP.
