New Install HELP! Please!

I have installed XOOPS and all was great. So I thought I look at some other themes and see how they look and work. I selected one and it looked wonderful and I proceeded to setup the blocks and all was well.

I logged off for the evening and went back to the site and when I go to the site nothing shows up? Blank white page?

Can someone please tell me how to fix this?

Thank you in advance,
Eric Hendrix

hi'

Perhaps a cache problem ?

You should delete all files in xoops_data/cache/smarty_compile ; except index.html

Have you renamed theme folder name or deleted something ?

Re: New Install HELP! Please!

I ahve followed the instruction to remove all files from the xoops_data/cache/smarty_compile ; except index.html as instructed.

The problem still remains?

I do not recall renaming or deleting anything.

Is there a way of going in and making a change to a php file to force it to go back to the default theme?

Not sure that problem is related to your theme

You could do that :
• copy files wich are inside www/theme/default/
• paste them in all other theme folders present in www/themes/, confirm replacements
• clean cache as said above

... and reload your page.

ps : make a backup of the /themes folder before

If it is selectable, you can add ?xoops_theme_select=default to your sites' URL.

Unfortunately, I did not make it selectable.

Short of removing and reinstalling is there any file I can edit to change this?

using phpmyadmin, find the table (xoops_config) that stores your sites preferences and edit the selected theme (theme_set) to be 'default' instead of 'yourtheme'.

or, if it was working, you changed nothing and then it wasn't working, I'd guess your host has done something... have you asked them if they did any maintenance that day?

Re: New Install HELP! Please!

Thank you both for your posts.

Let me first say I have never had my host do any maintenance without prior notification of what it was and if any precausions were needed. I do not think it is them.

phpmyadmin looks to be a very useful and powerful tool. As stated in my first post, my experience with php is negligible so I am hesitant to try and install it for security reasons and fear I may screw it up big time.

Is the graphical wizard fairly intuitive for a novice as myself?

I can create multiple users on the databases and can have all the same user in the setup of phpmyadmin will that work with this setup ok?

Is there a way I can check security after installation? (If I get it to work) LOL

I really appreciate you trying to assist me in this matter.
