duplicate path segments on installing xoops2.40RC

When I select Next from choose language I lose the theme and there are duplicate path segments in url:

www.mydomain.com/install/index.php/install/index.php/install/page_start.php

If I manually edit them out the next step correctly appears.
I'm installing on Godaddy:PHP Version 5.2.5:Mysql 5.0.18

Any help much appreciated

Is that the URL of the next link from the first page?

Which browser are you using?

yes, the same applies for all steps, firefox3.0.14/ie7.

Very weird, nobody else have problems with that.

Verify your files are complete with the file check (see release notes).
Do you have the same problem with the current version 2.3.3? (You know 2.4.0rc is only for test?)

I got it working after removing a php.ini in root dir.
I will post if I find the exact cause.

You may try to compare this php.ini file with the one of the system. If you can not find it aks your hoster for a copy.
The modifications may hint to the problem.
