I started a new site and when I or anyone clicks on the "Register" button, I get the following message:

"Sorry, you don't have the permission to access this area."

I have tried increasing permissions on the XOOPS folder, but that did nothing. I have quadruple checked the General Settings and I don't see anything that should cause this?

Any ideas?

If you haven't already, you should read the docs for setting up your XOOPS site. Some may be found here:http://xoopsdocs.net/modules/docs/

Your problem is in the Admin area with Group permissions. It has nothing whatever to do with directory permissions. You should find all the guidance you need at the above mentioned sites.

Thanks for the reply. I have looked at the documents and I am still unable to allow a new user to register. I guess they are considered anonymous users, but that doesn't make sense, since they would have to register before becoming a member of a group.

So, someone new to the site, would not be a member of anything and permissions to register should be open. I can't find anywhere in the docs that covers this, or perhaps I'm too literal or I've not had enough scotch yet.

I'll keep looking, but if you could give a more direct answer, I will surely appreciate it a lot.
