cannot understand News module's template code. please help.
I installed news module and customize its code.


in news_block_top.html file,

<{if $block.spotlight}>, how can I make it true,

I test on my local server. but cannot see the result when this if statment is true. seems like $block.spotlight always stay false.

btw, what is this $block.spotlight variable? what does it do?

You can activate the spotlight feature in den block settings.

$block.spotlight is true when this feature is activated!

in the block settings for that block i would presume.

In the Recent News block (news_block_top.html), you should have this:

Enable Spotlight Feature?

That is where you enable the Spotlight feature.
[size=x-small]If God is watching us, the least we can do is be entertaining.[/size]

msdana, thank you very much. I set font really small, overlooked that option.


here's another question I posted, but still have no answers.

if you have time, please take a look.

I just installed news module latest version.

I have recent news block installed on top page.

when you click on the news link.

it goes tohttp://localhost/modules/news/article.php?storyid=148

news I clicked supposed to show up. but it didn't. the left and right columns are fine. all showed up. and some of the block I put in the center columns are there.


I am wondering what did i do wrong? is there a block I should make it visible on news page ? if so, which one ?

I'm having a little trouble understanding what you are trying to say...

The Recent News block shows X number of recent news items. When you click on the news title it will take you to the entire news item, not the news index page.

Can you explain in more detail?

hi, sorry, didnt make it clear.


on the top page, I have recent news block, shows 10 latest news.

if you click on any of the news, it should take you to the entire news item.

but, the entire news item didnt show up. other blocks show up correctly. I dont know why news item is not there.

is there a block for news item and we have to install it on news page? which block is to show the entire news item with comments.

I am testing it on my local server, if you still got confused by what I am saying, I will try to upload it online, maybe you will know what I am talking about.


anyway, really appreciate your help
