Updated Post:

HI,

A few months ago I installed XOOPS 2.0.14 on my site, and just recently I've noticed my Site does not load, and gives the 'page not found' page and the window tile says 'cannot find server', or it takes forever to load.

XOOPS Version: 2.0.15 (I only just upgraded from 2.0.14)
PHP Version: 4.3.11
MySQL Version: 4.0.24
Web Server Software (Apache/IIS/Other): Apache
Operating System: Linux
Theme you are using: XOOPS Default Theme plus my own themes
Custom template: (Yes/No) Yes for own themes, no for default theme
PHP Debug Messages: Unsure what to post
MySQL Debug Messages: Unsure what to post
Smarty Debug Messages: Unsure what to post
A full description of the issue: See below and above.

My site is hosted on godaddy.com and they have done a check on the site and server, and said that everything looks fine, but that it could be something in XOOPS that is not set correctly with the mysql. I"m starting to get lost now, coz i've looked everywhere that i know to look, but i can't figure out why my site isn't loading :(

SOmetimes i can get straight into the site, others not at all. I can get into the admin section sometimes, and even then at times I can make a setting change as simple as turning site off so i can debug (also i not sure of what to look for in debugging) it says it's updated the database but then it tried to go back to the page it should but just goes to page not found.

Any ideas on what is going on ? I have just recently installed a test site as a subdomain as I"m working on themes which I've released for download, and even that subdomain which is the same XOOPS version isn't loading at times.

My site is RichardsDomain.Com and the subdomain is myxoopsthemes.richardsdomain.com , if anyone can help me figure out why my XOOPS sites are not loading I would really appreciate it. It's really starting to annoy me coz the site is getting worse and not loading so i'm lost as to what's wrong. Thanks in advance

You did not report the most important part:
what modules you installed and the cache settings

I've had another look around the system and i can't find why the site is intermittently loading and then not loading. Sometimes it takes ages to get into anything so i can check things. It was working fine, so I don't know what's happened. It's really annoyin me now. I am starting to think it's something to do with the protector module. If it keeps goin and i can't find what's wrong, i guess i'll just wipe all the hard work i've done and just get rid of the lot :( I don't know if i can put a backup made from this database, onto a new database or if it can be done. Anyway if anyone can help with this problem, it'd be appreciated. thanks in advance.

I have been having similar problems and as 'protector' is not one mof my modules I doubt it is this...I have Cpanel an ad it to the list of sometimess will sometimes won't open. This makes me less inclined to think it is XOOPS and more related to the server. But - I don't have an answer as to what exactly is going on.

hiya jensclas, is your site hosted with godaddy? Mine is but i've called them and they checked everything and they said that it seems as though something in XOOPS is not connecting with the MySQL database and they said to check settings and make sure they are all correct. I don't know where to start checking or even which settings to check in the database.

I can access old .php pages from my old site which are still on the server (they aren't stored on a database), they load instantly, but my XOOPS installation isn't loading at times. Sometimes it's quick to load, others it's just 'server not found'. I can access admin 'when' i can get to the site, and most times it works normally, but the site doesn't load :( I'm lost and it's annoying me. I really need some help with this, coz I've got some themes which I"m working on which I intend to hopefully release on the XOOPS site and on my own site as well, but it's no good if i have a site that is down more than up.

I've disabled protector on my test site, but still had same problem so it's not that.

anyway if some XOOPS developers out there could help with why the site isn't connecting to the database like it should, i would really appreciate it :) ty in advance.

Could it be that the site wasn't loading because I didn't have the 'Default' XOOPS theme included as one of the selectable themes which users can choose from? I just made the 'default' XOOPS theme one of the themes to choose from and the site seems to be loading normally now. It is probably just a coincidence and the site is probably just behaving normally at the time I did this, but if it keeps working now that guests can choose that theme, then I think it could be either that, or when I cloned the default template to create my own themes, something went wrong and wasn't stored correctly in the database. But then again it would have to have done same thing when I cloned it on the test site as well. I'll try anything at the moment, i just want my site to work normally again. Any ideas those who help develop XOOPS? ty in advance again. :)

Well it's not the 'default theme' cause i thought it may have been.

HERE is a link to a post where someone else has same problem, and which his hosting company said same thing about 'optimized' queries or something like that that's causing it. I replied to is as well as it's about the same problem.

Re: My XOOPS Site very slow loading or not loading at all :(

Hi

No - I am not with Godaddy...but last night I could not even get my host's website to load in the server and an email I sent about my own sites problem was answered thus:

Quote:
I have been on the phone with the data center and we can't find anything in the logs on this end. You can look at your logs by going to cPanel/(Web / FTP Statistics)/Error Log (http://jensclassroom.com:2082/frontend/x/stats/errlog.html) All times on the server are GMT -5:00 (EST US) so just add 15 hours to get your time.

If this happens again try immediately seeing if you can go tohttp://69.16.207.46/~jensclas . If you can then the problem is probably caused by a nameserver issue with your ISP (Internet Service Provider) or by a corrupted cache file on your browser. If you can't access the site using the IP address then it is indeed a problem on the hosting server end.

This sounds like a nameserver problem with your browser. When you tell your browser to go tohttp://jensclassroom.com it has to translate those letters to numbers and it looks the name up in the names file stored on your ISP's server. You browser also stores information about this names file on your computer in something called a cache.

One thing you can do is clear the cache on your browser on your computer. If your browser's cache file has become corrupted this kind of thing can happen. You can do that with FireFox by going to Tools/Options/Privacy/Cache and clicking on Clear Cache Now.

If this continues to occur you might contact your ISP.

This makes me very sus:
1. Can't get into Cpanel anymore often than i can get into my site
2. I have cleared my browser cache many times while trying to connect
3. My ISP is the most reliable in the country and I have no problems accessing any other webpages

I will try the http number thing...but I think I am also on the hunt for a new host...

Re: My XOOPS Site very slow loading or not loading at all :(

Back again - i was directed to my error log where i discovered the lats 300 errors in my site - several of which i knew about because of playing with it but hundreds of 404 and 403 errors stemming from my public_html!

eg: Quote:
[Mon Sep 4 12:42:57 2006] [error] [client 69.90.230.126] File does not exist: /home/jensclas/public_html/404.shtml
[Mon Sep 4 12:42:57 2006] [error] [client 69.90.230.126] File does not exist: /home/jensclas/public_html/jensjottings/wp-rss2.php
[Mon Sep 4 11:59:24 2006] [error] [client 65.55.213.4] File does not exist: /home/jensclas/public_html/403.shtml

Now there are probably a dozen or so users (clients) besides me getting the File does not exist errors in home/public_html and they recur for hours at a time and then theres nothing and then for hours it happens again.

So...my question is is this the server/host??? Or me??? (The jensjottings one is no surprise as i don't have it set up correctly - but the rest...)
