Hi there,

I was trying to edit the templates of few modules. But, none of them is giving me any results. (I tried to delete the content of templates_c folder, except index.html)

Module: mydownloads

I tried to edit mydownloads_index.html (the file under template folder of this module). I've tried to remove the download logo (and try to insert a download disclaimer text info, instead of the logo).

But, The changes are not reflecting in my website.

Module: newbb

i've tried to edit and insert google adsense in

newbb_index.html &
newbb_viewtopic_thread.html

But, the changes are not shown

I've tried few other modules, and i feel, i'm trying a wrong approach. Some one please help me..,

Thanks.

How are you trying to edit them???? I have found the only relaible method is to use GI Joe's Template Admin. It can be found at:http://www.peak.ne.jp/xoops/md/mydownloads/singlefile.php?lid=66&cid=1

I don't know if it does or not, but I know it has given me problems on other projects.

Hi,

If you edit files under module/templates, you need to update the coresponding module in XOOPS admin -> system -> modules.

Alternatively it may be usefull for you to know about this option in admin -> system admin -> preferences -> general settings - "Update module template .html files from themes/your theme/templates directory?" and check it, but for some users it was not reliable.

When you want changes in templates the logic is:
1. to clone the template set in admin -> system admin -> templates. Use clone and give some name for the new one.
2. select the new template to be used by xoops, instead of default one in admin -> system admin -> preferences -> general settings.
3. edit templates in admin -> system admin -> templates ...(you will have "edit" option for the cloned set)

This way if you mess something, you will have the original set of templates.

Also the recomended Templates Admin by GIJoe is very good and usefull.

As for the FrontPage I have two words: FORGET IT! The template is not a full HTML page, it has smarty codes and so on, so you will have only problems.

..

Thankyou Swain & Stefen. Your inputs are really useful. I'm trying that now.

Inbetween, one of my friend said, Ultra Edit (http://www.idmcomp.com/) is the best text editor for editing php files, text files, templates etc. Have anyone used this before?. Any comments.
