Looking good so far, alan.

Take a peek at this site.. I'm doing a major redesign from top to bottom, so don't pay much attention to its current format. What I want to know if there are any modules that I'm using on it that may help you with your site. Feel free to contact me.

I notice you have ads on the side - did you just add html or do you have blocks to manage side adds the way the main module manages the banner ads? How did you do the radio stations and the calendar? And is the total hits something XOOPs already tracks? I don't know if I want to display it for users, but it would be nice if I could see stats like that on an administrator. I'm just using banner counts to track hits right now.

The content looks great sofar. You may want to consider a different theme though. Most of your viewers wouldn't realise, but to the average XOOPS user it just looks like a modified phpkaox theme (which is what it is lol)Something using the teams colors and logo would be good :)

yea, that's what it is - I just gave it a little color. I thought that was the cleanest of the couple of themes that came standard.

How do people generally do themes? Do they just pick one from the theme library, or do they build their own? Maybe there's a tool for building themes? It was a pain to just change a couple of the colors.

Are there some themes you would suggest I look at? My concern right now is the main content doesn't seem to stand out.

Sports is hard as heck to choose colors for, and there aren't that many sports themes available for XOOPS right now. Looking at the great quality themes being designed and/or ported to XOOPS, I have a feeling that there will be some soon.

Most people probably pick themes from the themes library and customize them to their respective tastes. Some commission others; some people make their own. Baseed on the number of sites I've seen sporting the default them, I haveve a feeling that a few user either don't know that there are other themes available or don't know how to change them.

Regarding the Sport Radio block on my site, I used a module called debaser for that. Besides the internet radio block, it also allows your visitors to play multimedia files. A growing sports site like yours might find that useful in the future if you ever decide that you'd like to show game highlights.

There are a few calendar modules available in the Module Repository here. The ones that work for me are Agendax, AMevents and extcal.

The ads in the columns are javascript ads from Commission Junction. They are inserted into custom blocks - pretty much the same way you have your Amazon.com and Google ads inserted on your left column.

The hit counter is from a module called Statistics. Read the instructions carefully to set it up. You have to modify one file and add some code to your footer in the Preferences section of your site.

Well, it appears the Cavs have their own colors already. That b/ball theme is nice, but the wrong colors.....
I could probably knock something up using their logo colors if you like.

well, I agree that I could use a better theme, but I think what I have is ok for now. Not great, just ok.

But right now I'm more interested in getting the functionality the way I want it. The two things I want to look at - fixing the polls block so it shows the result if you've already voted and I'd love to find a way to turn the main menu and/or the user menu into a horizontal menu at the top of the screen - it'd be great if submenus appear as you mouse over the menu items too. They take up more screen real estate than they should.

I think if I can get rid of some clutter and get the functionality where I want it, then worry about a new theme I can end up with a cleaner overall design in the end
