Impressions?

Being a noob I have some gaps in my knowledge here.

So as I look at my banner system in the admin panel,I see a stat for "Impressions"

What are Impressions excatly?

I believe "Impressions" is the number of times a banner was clicked on by site visitors.

For what i know.. Impressions are the times a banner have been displayed

example: 10.000 impressions , means the banner was showed 10.000 times

I know its not the times the banner has been clicked because there is a stat for that.

I was assuming that its the number of times displayed.

Since turning the banner on 2 days ago it was over 6000 impressions. but I dont think my site has that kind of traffic.

So there msut be more to it than simply number of views.


Anyone?

I'm starting to wonder if it happens every time a page is crawled. If that's the case, it would be a real disservice to people paying to have their banners displayed a specific amount of times.

Hello? Is there no one out there that can give us a definitive answer on what XOOPS is doing when it marks banner impressions?
