I tried to install the latest version of Article, 0.80, into XOOPS 2.24 and 'bad things' immedately started happening.

The installation said it was successful, but first the installation did not install any 'Preferences' for Articles, nor any module administration. I tried an 'update' in the Modules Administration page, and this did not complete. So then I tried to uninstall, and it went to the 'uninstall' page, but the 'submit' button did not appear at the bottom of the page, so I could not tell it to complete the action.

I tried to access the site and nothing came up.

I FTP'ed into the site, and removed the Article module directory. Then I went into PHPMyAdmin and removed all of the Article tables.

The site still will not come up, the only access that seems to work is through admin.php, and I can't change anything. The General Preferences screen will not come up so I can't turn the debugging on.

Any ideas to recover from this?

You did not use any files included in the framework folder did you? Those files are just for XOOPS 2.0.13.2.

Yes, I tried that, thinking the update needed something from the Frameworks folder. It didn't work.

Do I need to reinstall those files from an original 2.24 installation zip?

Article packge should be kept its original folder structure, do not overwrite any file or folder with the Article package.

restore your XOOPS 2.24 files.

That did it, guys, I was able to finish the uninstall of Article, the site is coming back up now.
