Hi,

I have my site hosted in a shared server, the past days they suspended my site because the say a normal site use 0.50 server resources and my site is using 3,58 making the whole server slow,
they say the XOOPS keeps processes in sleeping mode in the MySQL db.
They say the problem was always since the begining but grow every month.

They show me this (obviusly i edited the database name, etc) some db querys keep in query long time.

| 84601 | *edited* | localhost | *edited* | Sleep | 122 |
| 84629 | *edited* | localhost | *edited* | Query | 1 | Copying to tmp table |
| 84601 | *edited* | localhost | *edited*| Sleep | 166 | | |

(tmp table? i have not a tmp table in my db)

i already activate all the cache features in my site, remove the statistics modules, and turn on the compresion in the cbb forum, and gzip in xoops.
And reduced the number of adsense banners, the google robot spend aroung 2.5gb of bandwith each month. the problem are the google banners?

But the problem still there, and i not see a solution

My site has around 2000 daily visitors, and around 50 or 60 visitors online all the time.

any ideas?
thanks in advance and excuse my poor english.

best regards
javier

We have had the same problem, our account was suspended by our host!

This has nothing to do with Xoops, but with a reverse DNS problem in MySQL.

Start MySQL without reverse DNS and the problem is solved. You can disable DNS hostname lookups by starting mysqld with the --skip-name-resolve option. However, in this case, you can use only IP numbers in the MySQL grant tables.

I had to find this out by myself and tell our webhost, and the problem was fixed.

i had a problem with google bot as well. but in my case was the module PiCal

i will recommend anyone using PiCal to edit your robots.txt and disallow the path to this module.

I got a message from javier pointing to this topic concerning CBB 1.14.
As I understand, CBB 1.14 is not the problem, technically.
However, I would recommend to upgrade to CBB 1.16 for both performance and security considerations.

I really appreciatte your reply here phppp, thanks alot,

i just discovered i have certain problems in my cbb database,https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=46183&forum=28&post_id=202874#forumpost202874

Problems caused by missing info in the lastest MySQL database upload,
i made some test and i think these missing info can´t generate the MySQL problems or i wrong?
i check the process list from the phpmyadmin, and i not see sleep process caused by clicking in these erroneus links with missing data,

sinceraly i have not clue about this,

with 50 or 60 users surfing all the day at the same time, is neccesary go ahead and move to a dedicated server?

best regards
javier

Watdehek, i can´t make the reverse DNS thing because im in a shared server.

I have not success searching the sleep process, them i make a little test, i tell to the hosting company i found the problem and solved (obvisuly is a lie), because im not trust in they words.

But the true is i DELETED ALL the forum topics (around 60.000 post)

and the hosting company never say a word again, that´s very strange, these people say about the sleep process, blah blah blah, now i not touch anything in the code, simply remove all the topics and they never say a word again,

My point is, if was true about the sleep process, no matter the number of forum topics, etc the problem should stay there, however this people not complain again.

Someone can throw me a rope here?

This people lie because not want host a big site or with 2000 daily visits, 60 users online all the time, etc etc the site can´t follow in a shared server?

thanks in advance
javier
