Dear Forum Clever Folk,

My website vanished overnight!

I can go to the root directory and i get a blank (all white) page, like it loaded but there was nothing there.

I can go to the index.php and i get the same blank page.

I can FTP and see the files are there but i don't know what they were supposed to contain so i don't know if they've been maliciously altered or if they've magically reverted to their original non content form.

I can go to a sub module page that i have visited before and all of the website is there except if i click on HOME i go back to the white page....

Its like someone took away the entire front door and boarded it up with gypsum, spackled and painted it white.

I really need help i have no idea what to do!

here is the homepage link:

HOME PAGE LINK FOR ZONELASERTAG.COM (THE WHITE ONE!)

A SUBPAGE IN NEWS THAT CLEARLY WORKS

my email is simon.w@zoneempire.com if you want to cc me on your ideas that would be AWESOME.

Many thanks in advance for anyone who can help

Yours sincerely,

Simon

Contact your webhoster, maybe they're doing maintenance on their servers.

I had this a couple of times. Visiting my website resulted in a blank page or an error. By ftp I could see all the files.
After a while everything was working again.
My hoster told me they were doing maintenance because of some attacks but didn't inform their clients about this.

I am crossing my fingers that this is the case, however i just checked my email and i have received a blank email with no from, to subject or body, this seems to me to be a rather suspicious coincidence.

i'll save the email as i have no idea how to trace it or even if thats possible, but you never know.

If anyone has any other ideas if the hosting company comes back with a don't know, please send a post.

Cheers

Simon

i turned on the debug to PHPDebug and the home page is still blank, i have hosting company on the phone and they are looking into it, they still haven't confirmed whether or not it is on their end or not although they are taking their time, so maybe, fingers still crossed!

Can i try anything else?

The FAQ is very detailed and technical, i will pick my way through it. i must have missed it because i searched for the word vanish instead of blank or white.

Thanks for finding it for me.

The web hosting people think they know what the cause is and have told me to wait a few minutes, they didn't say what might be causing the problem, but i'm sure the FAQ will work up the reason if they come back with bad news.

Thanks for the help

Simon

What module do you have set on the front page (if any)? What else is on the front page? Because the rest of the site is working fine, it's just the main page that won't display.

Hi the start module is set to none.

i did change it to be the news module but that didn't make a difference so i changed it back to none.

i tried changing the theme that didn't seem to be the problem either.

Thanks,..

What XOOPS version are you using?

I had a look at your index.php file and it looks like this (I'll might be wrong):
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
<!--
saved from url=(0037)http://www.zonelasertag.com/index.php -->
<HTML><HEAD>
<
META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
<
META content="MSHTML 6.00.2900.2802" name=GENERATOR></HEAD>
<
BODY></BODY></HTML>

The file extension is .php but I don't see any php-code in index.php.

I'm not an expert, but mine looks like this (Xoops 2.2.3):
<?php
// $Id: index.php,v 1.8.22.1 2005/04/03 09:59:42 mithyt2 Exp $

header('Location: '.XOOPS_URL.'/modules/'.$xoopsConfig['startpage'].'/');
    exit();
} else {

$xoopsOption['show_cblock'] =1;
    require
"header.php";
    require
"footer.php";
}
?>

Can it be that a index.php has been uploaded to the wrong place, root instead of folder?

If I go tohttp://www.zonelasertag.com/modules/news/ everthing seems to be alright, except the home-button gives a blank page.
