Hi,
Currently i have my sites with 2.0.13.2, but in the next days i will start make a new site,
2.0.13.2 works like a dream for me, but im very curious about XOOPS 2.2.3, and over all the things i want avoid a future hard/dificulty upgrade from 2.0.xx.x to 2.2.x.

Currenlty i like 2.0.13.2 alot, i feel very confortable with it, but im scare about a future dificult upgrade to 2.2.0 if 2.0.xx.x if someday the development team stop the 2.0.xx.x updates.

Im a little confuse about all this, what i should do?

Excuse my english and thanks in advance for the replies.
Best Regards.

Hi javier,

If all the modules you will need are avilable for XOOPS 2.2.X then go for it now, if not you'll have to stick with 2.0.13.2 until the modules you need become available.

My advice is to stay with 2.0.13.x. unless you need the new features of 2.2.x.

Both versions will be maintained, until the next version of XOOPS is released : 2.4.

My understanding is that it will be possible to upgrade to 2.4 from either version.

Discussed further here and here.

Personally, I'm sticking with 2.0 for a while yet - maybe 6 months or a year even.

I just tested an upgrade path from 2.0.9 to 2.2.3 with tremendous success. All of my modules and themes work despite their age.

The site went live without so much as one single problem in under 2 hours of upgrades and testing.

My personal experience from upgrading from a much earlier version of XOOPS, then your current version, has been very positive. Your upgrade time would be very minimal compared to mine and should meet the same success.

I would recommend upgrading to at least 2.2.x in order to save time and testing for future releases. Creating a subdirectory and an additional database would also be recommended if you are still unsure. Migrating from test to live only takes a few moments under the right conditions.

Good Luck
