I Have 4 XOOPS Sites on the same hosting.... They Work Super.. BUt I have very big Problem.. CPU.. Sometmimes my Sites take %50 - %75 CPU of All Server.. At First I didint bealive that.. I said to my hosting firma it is impossible.. Than My Server Gave me a shell account.. And I started to watch..

Now I see All..
For Example .. if I click index.php of my site, it takes %48 CPU of All server..than it goes back %2 or normally.. But if l click an other link
( for Exemple xoportal/modules/icontent/index.php?op=explore¤tDir=6) or xoportal/modules/news/ or just /xoportal/modules/mylinks/... lt doest matter wich links on my xoops... lt takes too much CPU of server..

Now it may be no problem.. Because The server is my friend.. and he says now ok.. But i am thinking.. in one day if my site become a very hit very big site. and in the same time a lof of visitors come.. it will make all server down... Plesase help me.. I searched on this forum and other XOOPS forums.. but i could not find any informations about cpu.. l have 5 XOOPS sites .. and 2.0.9 2.0.10 2.0.13.1 ...
i have just no 2.2..... And all of them have same problem.. (CPU)

Single biggest place to get an instant performance kick is to make sure you have XOOPS set to cache as much as you can (especially the blocks). Get your hands on the Page timer|MySQL Counter smarty plugin I wrote here.

What is your server's platform? Which Apache's and MySQL finetune operations was done before?
I can say, that only changing MySQL config decrease LA from 2 - 2.5 in busiest time (90% CPU on httpd process) to .4 and 50-52% of CPU (for all 9 hosted /6 - XOOPS/ sites on poor Celeron-600 host)

You HAVE to enable caching in XOOPS in order to reduce load and queries.
Installing the plugin by Brash will show you how long its taking to generate pages and how many queries.

If a page is using 50 queries, thats WAY to much.
I would say 30 is pretty common and that 20 or less is preferable.
I've hacked my XOOPS sites enough that my Query count is at or around 10.

Enabling Blocks Cache and Module Cache intelligently will help to reduce server loads.

I have just had the same problem, to begin with they disabled my site as it was using 95% resources.

Caching everything doesn't work! If you cache something that is used all the time i.e. forum, and you put it on a low (30 seconds-5 minutes) cache. Instead this means more calls to the server, every 5 minutes or what ever you set it on.

Even after repairing problems in the database and removing items that are updated a lot, I am still using 45% resources.

I know my site has a lot of modules, yet this is something I want as it attracts more people to the site.

With caching I have now only cached, static content stuff that doesn't change.

Yet why is XOOPS using High resource, I use XOOPS 2.0.13.1?

I also recommend XOOPS logical checker if you are on 2.0.13 as it will check your database for errors!
