News stories = News = Stories = Articles = News articles

Can all be used for the same.

Make confusion to newbies translators. I´m losted with this confusion, without logic and reason.

These words are all used for the same. I can imagine if you don't speak English very well, it may be confusing. I bet Portuguese also has a number of different words that mean the same. I suggest you use the word in Portuguese that best matches the contents.

Yes, i[m using the word "notícias". But in portuguese, these words mean different things. Sorry don´t have the time to talk more about it.

Thanks.

I think ´articles´ as static text, and related with modules like wfsections, articles, smartsection, etc. The name section means ´Section of Articles´ (phpnuke creator, 2001)

It's not really important - as you can change the wording to whatever you want.

You could change the word "articles" to sausages if it took your fancy

What is sausages? But I know, the problem can be solved by the translators too. I mean problem because these words are different, have the same source, and mean the same thing in English (only?). But people like me have, with reason, problems to understand some original XOOPS files writhed in pure English. Why not choose the best word for news in English, and remove the rest? Why transfer this problem to translators, if can be solved by the developer? Honestly, is impossible to see any logic.
Best regards,

Àggelos.
