i have done....
adminstation menu

edit metatags & footer
footer
this is where i am not getting the correct format for creating an hyperlink for email address

hope somebody can help - thanx

Re: putting an email link on the footer page

I would change that information in the theme... open the theme.html file, and after the <{$xoops_footer}>, put in your 'click here to email me' info.

(Someone might have another way, but this is what I do...)

krystinevo - will give that a go - thanks for pointing me in the right direction

regards

arthurg

found that the link worked all the time.....
problem seems to be browser specific - using kmail(inlinux) smtp.
using Konqueror as browser - click on link - uses external kmail program and am able to send email...

using firefox as browser - nothing happens....

so i think i need an email protocol that is browser independant.

maybe a php script

any ideas ?

Using Email me! should work with any browser, it's what I do on my website and it works with IE and firefox.

thanx for reply - have put the emailto link as you suggested-
but same problem...

works in konqueror browser
don't work in firefox

looks like i may have to re-install firefox to get to the bottom of this..

thanx for confirming - that the linking is correct

SOLVED!!!

this is now solved - it was a firefox problem.....

this is what i have and what i did - for any body having same problem..

i have linux os & running firefox(linux ver)

load firefox - in navigation bar type ABOUT:CONFIG

you get a list of configuration items - you need to create 2 new commands (1 boolean, 1 string)

right click anywhere in main page - create new boolean
(type) network.protocol-handler.external.mailto
(make sure its set to TRUE)

now create new STRING(as above, but set to STRING)
(type) network.protocol-handler.app.mailto (enter your path to your email program (in my case /opt/kde3/bin/kmail)

restart firefox - DONE - works for me!!

this is only relevant to linux firefox & not windows firefox
