I have created a website portal wirh Xoops, everything is perfect, I have the news module attached to the frontpage.

The problem is that I get the annoying "/modules/news/" after the host in the url box.(http://localhost/modules/news/) It's annoying and look amatureish!

Anything I can do to remove it? I've looked around on various XOOPS sites, and see alot of others have the same problem.

Yep!

Dont make the news module your default module.

dont use a default.

Then set news blocks on front page if you still want news on front.

I stopped news being my default home page, but would still like a couple of news stories on the front page,
How would I set a news story to become a block?
Or what is the block that can display a number of news stories?

Cheers,

I believe Spotlight module will meet your needs. However, the new version of news module has its spotlight integrated. So, it's your choice to pick what's the best for ya.
For spotlight, http://www.wf-projects.com

For new news module,
dev.xoops.org

NOTE: I haven't tried news1.3 yet. I knew spotlight integrated from somewhere around this forum.

Cheers...
