Hi ,

Pls help my NewBB recently can not show the smiley in every post but only the smiley code( for example: ,..) .

So please help me how to change to smiley instead of smiley code...

do you upgrade from newbb1 to newbb2 and now have this problem?
do you have this problem with new posts or old posts?
it seems XOOPS smilies are disable in your forum

Hi,

my NewBB is 2.0 . it still showed smiley on every post until yesterday it did not . so i do know where to config the function??

Pls help me..

Hi,

with my NewBB v.2.0 if visit with anonymos user i can see the smilies.BUt if i login with registered user i can only see smiley codes.

Please give me an advise how config...

when you edit a post is "Enable Smilies" checked or not?
edit:
also check the "enable XOOPS code" as well

My post is always have smiley enable by default. i do not change the status.
so pls give me a advice

I'm having the same problem. The site is using newbb1. bbcode works if anon but then only shows the code when logged in. All settings correct as far as I can tell.

As a test I made a copy of the site and upgraded to newbb2. All went well except I still have the smilie issue.

I even moved the whole site to an Apache 1.3 server (from a 2.x) and still have the problem.

Smilies work as expected in all modules except newbb (1 or 2) and then only when logged in. Anon users see the smilies instead of the code.

Can someone explain the process of showing smilies that might be relevent to newbb. Something is different compared to the rest of the site. I assume that smilies are core.

to clarify: In newbb the smilies show when anon but not when logged in.

I've made some progress on this. It appears that the Formulize module block is conflicting with the smilies in newbb.

Here is the debug error that got me to the problem:

Disable the block and the smilies return. However, I need Formulize right now and will need to track this error down.

Going to the offending line in mymenu.php and forcing a value to $topwritten makes the error go away but doesn't help the smilies. So the error doesn't seem to be involved but the block itself is the source of the problem.

So, are the folks with this problem also using Formulize?

Strange and scary tests.
I thought that if the Formulize block is the problem with newbb smilies I would turn it off and use MultiMenu to get users there. I then discovered that my MultiMenu entries were gone and I couldn't add any new entries (goes through the motions but nothing saved).

If I uninstall Forumulize then MultiMenu starts working again. But that defeats the purpose, I need Formulize for the time being and can't afford to loose the entries.

So I think I'll now try a simple custom block to get users over to Formulize. Then hope that the module(s) continue to develop.

One thing that caused me to wonder is that Formulize uses a table named "form" which sounds like it might be a reserved name?
