Hi All,

I have tried LOADS of module to try and make a simple menu on the left (that when clicked can also have sub-items). These items were to open in the centre pane of the window.

I've not found a module that can do this and also fits my current theme (one of the XOOPS default themes). My question is:

How can I build a custom block that goes on the left with menu objects and sub-objects that when clicked, show a static html page in the centre?

Thanks a lot in advance.
Ajoy.

Take alook at this FAQ here on custom menu items. Multi-menu sounds like one option you have.

Hi,

That is great, my only question now is how do I get the HTML page to open up in the centre page of the site?

Thanks!

To do what you want, I created a custom block with the name "About Us" and added whatever links to pages I wanted.
I have Company, Products & Services and Contact Us there which have links to the appropriate pages.

After that, I modified my site to have a bar at the bottom using a theme that had the appropriate links. This way it's always there on every page and I don't have to bother with adding a block.

Hi,

Thanks for everyones responses. In the end I used WF-Channel which does exactly what I need it to do. The only thing I haven't tried is to place a link on one of the wf-channel pages and get the html link to open in the same pane.

Can I suggest you check out XSAS ?

It comes with a complete XOOPS installation ready to work discreetly on your computer.

xoops 2.0.6 , but it should give you a good idea.

I would suggest you also check out Xoops for Dummies

He has a few suggestions for what you are looking for. You'll have to look around a bit but it is more than worth the time to check it out.
