Hello fellow Xoopsers !

The SmartFactory is continually seeking new ideas to improve its modules.

Since the XOOPS FAQ is becoming the Knowledge Reference at Xoops.org, we beleive it's important to keep improving the module that powers it : SmartFAQ.

I would like to seek your comments and suggestion on ways to improve the module's layout.

When categories' titles are long, the layout appears a bit messed up. Here is an example :

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated !

Oh and by the way, we are presently asking for comments about the layout, but we are opened to any suggestion about the module ! Drop us a post in our forums at The SmartFactory !

Marc-Andre, thanks for persuing this enquiry.

Let me just say that I will still be implementing the changes discussed on other threads regarding the category descriptions ect. While still working closely with layout changes that come out from this discussion.

As always, this is a team effort, which means your input is really valuable

ok, I've quickly put together my version of how to improve the smartfaq templates.

The files I've changed can be downloaded here.

It's not a full template set, just the files I've changed i.e. it doesn't include any block templates. So it can't be uploaded as a true template set can, you'll need to upload each one to the smartfaq template section individually... and don't forget to upload the css file too, there are two new css classes there.

I hope you find it interesting and/or useful

If you do include it in a next release, you should probably also add a new smarty element too, a $faq.fullquestionlink .

For the index I've had to use $faq.questionlink, as the $faq.question doesn't link to the question itself. Trouble is, the link only has part of the question, not the whole thing. It's useful for when the display type is summary view, but the full view really needs a full question.

And I'm very glad you like my templates

nice layout but as marcan said ALSO there is no need for show category 2 times.in addition a cleaner screen help to easy config templates for RTL languages

Personally, I agree with you that it would look better without the category displayed under the question like that. I was trying to keep as close to the original as possible, while making the faq easier to read. That was the result

It's easy enough to remove that line, it's only in one template. I still think it should be retained in the index views though... below is another screenshot to show why.

It also shows why I'd like a fullquestionlink too

Like I said, I've reworked the templates and added a couple of feature requests.

I've release the new version at the Developers Forge : SmartFAQ 1.04 Beta 1

You can see the layout changes at The SmartFactory's FAQ.

Finally, here is the changelog :
