Where to begin?! anyways. I have tried installing many different modules. very few work right for me.

I use cpanel to extract my zip files into the modules folder. say for example. i downloaded the xoopscount module and uploaded it to the site. i extracted it to the modules folder. where it then proceeded to create its on subdirectory in the modules folder. i go to the admin panel and find that it says "Module File for xoops2-mod_xoopscount_v2_0_2 Not Found!" this is the case with just about every module i have tried installing. I get this with all the IRC modules too!.. I'm getting frustrated and don't know what to do :(

please help

Thank you in advance

Re:module installation problems

No!!! you can't do that... it'will extract something like this "modules/xoops2-mod_xoopscount_v2_0_2/xoopscount/"... that's why you recieve that kind of error message...

please extract the zip file in your computer first... then, you'll get xoopscount folder in xoops2-mod_xoopscount_v2_0_2 folder...

then, upload xoopscount folder into "public_html/modules/". the url should public_html/modules/xoopscount/

as an example... hope that make sense...

Just remember that when you extract the folders, some module developers wil either have it directly (/modulename/) in a folder or further down. Example /html/modulename/.

Make sure you upload the folder that contains the othe modules folders (/admin, /includes, etc...)
