What is the easiest way to incorporate XML?

I would like to incorporate some XML feeds into a XOOPS sites.

Ideally, the new content would be placed in a database so that the content could be incorporated into the newbb system.

What is the easiest way to accomplish this?

the XOOPS headline module is a good start - while its support of different feeds is limited to RSS, it parses the feed and stores its information in the MySQL database.
