snx_weather... legal?

I installed snx_weather on my site now am feeling a little remorseful because I'm uncertain about the legalities of using content that appears to be syndicated. Can anyone address whether there's a legal problem with using snx_weather without compensating the content provider?

I've seen many Linux tools that use weather.com weather data.
www.wunderground.com told me it was possible to do it from weather.com

And I've asked weather.com webmaster the authorization.
They did'nt answer clearly yet.

I use a weather.com rss feed plug in a freind of mine made on my desktop as far as I know there is no legeal stuff about it

If they are offering the content in an RSS feed then you'd have to think there are no issues. I'd still check to be certain if you are concerned about it though.

Very bad news.
My module is illegal !
Weather.com only allow the use of their XML feed for 2-day forecast.

Here is their answer:
Dear Quoc-huy,

Thank you for contacting The Weather Channel Interactive.

Unfortunately, we do not allow any third party website to scrape, pull or otherwise recreate any of our content, data or images. All content on the weather.com site is proprietary and copyrighted, so we must ask that you do not pull weather information from weather.com. Any other plugin application or website that you see using more than a 2-day forecast is doing so illegally without a license agreement with TWCi, and we are taking appropriate actions.

The only method by which you may use our data is through one of our free products -- the XML data feed or the Magnet products.

If you are interested to linking to this content or in having a weather magnet for a city on your site, please visit:

http://www.weather.com/magnet

Thank you for your understanding. Please let us know if you have further questions.

Yeeeoouch!! Snakes, thanks for sharing that letter. Just pulled snx_weather from my site. Too bad... it was a very nice resource. Fall back and punt.

Can't you modify your module to only pull two days worth of forecast? It would be a pity to lose such a useful module.

Maybe I don't understand the usefulness of a full weather module but what I do is to create a simple custom block and put in the basic current forecast graphic these sites do allow. The graphic is a link to the main site where you can get any forecast you desire.

This is what I use to put up the forecast and current gas price in Toronto, I put it in a left-left block in the News module:
