Hi

I have had my site running for a few months now, and wondered why no users had submitted any pictures (reports in my case)! I've just noticed that whenever a user tries to submit a picture IE crashes out and closes giving the very annoying message 'Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close'. See the screen shot below :

If I use FireFox however, it works fine. If the picture is too big, it tells me so and refers me back to where I was. If it is OK, then it tells me so, and adds it to the site.

In IE however, if it's over the size limit it ALWAYS crashes. If its under the limit, sometimes it will crash, and other times it won't - seems to be pot luck. Sometimes, when I re-start IE the submission will be there, and other times it won't.

If anyone wants to have a go themselves, please register yourself, then PM me to remove your account once you are finished. Just upload anything for now (nothing abusive though) just to test it then remove any that successfully post ASAP or PM me so I can remove them.

Is this a known issue? Is there a fix? Does anyone know what causes it? It is vital I get this working because 80% of my users use IE (same for most of us I guess) so it has to work with that more than anything. PLEASE HELP!

Thanks

BTW - I have also posted this topic at Peak.Ne

I have now looked this fault up a lot on Google, and various suggestions have been made because it has happended to loads of people for loads of reasons - not just Xoopers. Suggestions made were, for example, turning off the 'Enable Third Party Browser Extensions' was one suggestion. Installing the Service Pack for Microsoft Office 2000 was another. Disabling 'smarty tags' was another. I've tried all of them, and the problem persists.

Additionally, the exact problem also happens on the Intranet site I built at work for my colleagues. That site runs on a totally different structure than my personnal one though (which runs on Apache etc). It runs on Windows Server 2003, Win XP workstations, IIS, php and MySQL using XOOPS 2.0.7 and the very same MyAlbum module. But it also crashes out once I press the submit button. So it is not even specific to my web site.

I am not suggesting for one minute that the MyAlbum module is the problem here - it is quite clearly IE that is the problem. What I am trying to find out is why does it happen when the submit button of MyAlbum is pressed? What feature of IE do I need to disable or enable in order for MyAlbum to do what it does? I appreciate no one may not know the answer for sure because probably only Bill Gates does, but if you could give me some things to check or an avenue to explore? When that submit button is pressed, IE is obviously having to do something other than uploading the file (which it sometimes completes) - if I knew what it was then perhaps I could stop the errors and advise my users accordingly.

Thanks again for your help

Ted
