Xoops Hosting Forum Launched

Hey All,

In a purely self interested move, I just created a new forum called XOOPS Hosting. Now that you all have your XOOPS Sites, the next obvious step is to find a good, reliable host provider to showcase your work.

This forum is for folks to make Host recommendations, request hosting services, tell us your stories, etc....

And I say I created this forum partly out of self-interest, because hey, I need a more reliable host provider myself, so any recommendations will be much appreciated.

michelle

I think we need some kind of polls...so we can rank these hosts in some fashion.

Maybe even put up a new poll every week or so with an accumulation poll over a prolonged time period.

Just some wood for the fire

I am a relative newbie with xoops, so take my comments as such. I just set up a site withhttp://www.mediatemple.net/
They have php and mysql. XOOPS uploaded and installed without problem. I don't know if you were looking for hosts that actively support XOOPS or not (I don't believe mediatemple does). However, they have a reputation in the Flash world for good servers for dynamic content.

Hello Michelle,

I'm a newbie to xoops.

May be you can answer my question in Installation Questions Forum.

To answer your question, please have a look at www.ProWebSpace.com with whom I intend to upload my XOOPS sites once I learn how to create good XOOPS sites.

Hope this helps (HTH),
Shankar.

Here is the hosting I usehttp://www.onsmart.net/smarthost.htm
Unlimited databases, unlimited subdomains and you can even host up to two domains for one price. I like these features better than what any other host I have used gave me. I am running xoops2 on my site and have no problems with it at all.

I actualy have the facilities to Host other sites,, This is NOT a plug for a hosting package btw.
I set things up that way so that I could easily work with more than 1 or 2 domains.
I Wonder if there are any design/stylists out there who would consider Barter. I can offer

PHPmyadmin access to multiple MySQL tables. A
reasonable amount of space and bandwidth.
front page server extensions.
perl / Mod perl
cgi
tomcat
ftp
Python
squirrelmail
ensim management console and more
all running on apache
In return I would be looking for a theme and occasional design work.. negotiated freindly stylie

would it work out? am I slap bang out of order or is barter in keeping with the philosophy of open license and the XOOPS site?

If this posting is inapropriate I apologise

I was with ipowerweb.com for a little while. They seemed alright at first, but then slowed down after a while. Other than that, I don't remember why I left. I went to cphosting.com after that. There were MANY occasions where I couldn't connect to the site and the speeds were just too slow. They claimed the problems were on my end, but I experience these issues at 3 different locations in the country. I am now with just-hosting.com and I have to say I am impressed.

Good luck!
Chris
