Hi everybody,

Just wondering if anybody had the chance and willingness to install XOOPS on the PHP 5 engine. If so, please share your experience, thoughts, etc. with us.

The second thing in this thread might be a question for the coreteam. How do they see XOOPS heading with PHP 5 with for example SQL lite embedded, etc.

Cheers, Jan

Did you do a search on these forums at all? This question has been answered a couple of times before. So far, the only problem that has occurred is the clone method, but that will be fixed in 2.2.

For XOOPS3, it will have native PHP5 support.

surely such what could be considered important info deserves a better place than hidden away in a "vast" amount of forum posts.

While can understand the "try search" reply for the more basic questions, perhaps it could be taken as a indicator that the presentation of XOOPS development information could be improved.

Obvious benefits would be, dev staff time dealing with repeated q's would be saved, along with users time looking for info as well

I have seen this question yesterday, and answered in full. Also, on the sourceforge.net project forums, where the core development is discussed, there is a very long thread on this.

The search feature is there for a reason. Especially for important stuff. The only reason there is such a vast amount of posts, is because people don't use the search in the first place. So, having to start improvement somewhere, I tell people to use the search...

Hi there,

Well, I actually used the search function. I typed in PHP 5 and it ignored the '5', because it was too short. The list I got had no 'PHP 5' in the subjects, so I presumed no topic was there. I don't want to be redundant, but I do think I did the right thing.

It's not just search behaviour, but also better use of the subjectline that needs attention.

By the way, I still haven't found it yet.

Cheers, Jan.

No phppp, did not. Thanks for the suggestion. Google is of course a better searchengine.

Cheers, Jan
