Hi
I am an end user of a XOOPS powered website and I am having a problem with our message forums.. I have logged on from another computer using my account and I did not see the behavior I describe so the problem exists on my computer not the website

The Problem: message forums worked fine for several months for me but beginning last week, new messages always remain marked new no matter how many times I read them.. I checked my computer clock/calendar and it is correct. I also deleted my User@website[2].txt cookie but the behavior remains.
No new hardware or software was installed about the time this began happening.

Anyone know what caused this or how to resolve this problem?

Thanks!

My site started the same today. Was fine for three months...
What can be causing this? Did you find the solution?

I did a search on my harddrive for the website name... found several cookies and many many links to parts of the website....
deleted EVERY file with the name of the website on it....
this took awhile becasue some of those links would not detete on first try

the problem STILL remains!

does XOOPS depend only on cookies for contextual info or are there registy settings or other files on my hard drive with less obvios names where XOOPS hids this stuff??

PROBLEM FIXED (for me)

Posts were not being marked as read so went to...

Administration Menu - System Admin - Preferences - General Settings

Changed settings:

1)Use Custom Session - Yes(was no)
2)Session Expiration - 30

3)Then set "Update module templates" to "yes" and clicked "go" at the bottom.

4)Went back and set "Update module templates" back to "no"

** NewBB messages are now again being marked as read for me and other users :)

Thanks that helped!
You can delete the cookie and solve the problem with the side effect that all messages are now reset to new.

Here is how
Search for the newbb cookie. you should have a newbb cookie for each XOOPS bb that you use. view the file to see if it is the correct cookie for the website having the problem. Once you finde the correct newbb cookie then delete it
