This is during the initial install? The error says it can't connect to the database. That usually means a problem in the mainfile.php for the database options. Recheck those and set for the correct values.

Hi,

I have tried this similar problem. Previously, I used MySQL V4.0.18 and appeared this problem. Now, I am using MySQL V3.23.58 and all problems are disappeared.

Hey, XOOPS team, do you know how to fix it or amend the mainfile.php, please.

Thx!

I use V4.0.18 with no issues (local and remote Xoops). The specs for connecting haven't changed between versions. The latest version of MySQL is more flexible with security options so that might be an issue if not set-up properly.

I haven't heard of any issues with having an older MySQL client installed in PHP connecting to a newer MySQL server. But that could be an issue depending on your PHP engine. You might have a really old MySQL client compiled into PHP. Best if it is at the same version as the server, or reasonably close.

Suggest getting a readout from :

You will see lots of useful info including what MySQL client version is compiled into PHP.
